(12-29-09)                       4A NCHSAA Indoor Track Qualifying Requirements for State Meet

Reindeer Games:   Results

(12-13-09) The Reindeer Games are Wednesday, December 16th at Polk County High School.

The purpose of the Reindeer Games is to help provide food for the needy over the holiday season.  An “entry fee” of 1 can of food per athlete (or $2) will be collected. Spectators will also be “charged” one can of food for admission or $5. The food will be turned over to the Thermal Belt Outreach for distribution to the needy.

The meet will add a couple of relays that are different from regular events and the 3200m run may be dropped.

Qualifying times, heights, and distances will count for state qualifying; however, some added events are not ones that are normally contested at indoor meets.

Possible events are the 4 x 200, the field event 4 x 100, and the shot put relay.  These relays will be run with large candy canes rather than relay batons.

TC Roberson Girls XC team earns national ranking

On DyeStat Elite ESPN RISE FAB50 at US#36

(12-03-09)

The Roberson girls “Dream Team” have earned a national ranking following a solid 6th place finish at the NXN SE Regional Championship last weekend.  Of the nine Regions in the NXN format, the Southeast region has gathered much respect having 9 teams ranked among the top 50 in the nation.  Last week’s winning team, Tatnall, finished 3rd at the NXN National Championship last year and is currently ranked 10th going into this year’s National Championship on Saturday.  Blacksburg, who finished 2nd to Tatnall at NXN SE last weekend in Cary, is ranked 11th nationally.

Laura Hoer is currently in Portland, Oregon hanging out with fellow individuals from the Southeast as they prepare for Saturday’s NXN National Championship race.  There will be 22 girl’s teams and 45 individuals participating in the highly competitive race.  All of the top 10 nationally ranked teams will be in the race.       for up-to-date coverage

Jus Running Racing Team takes 6th place at NXN SE Regional Championship

The TCR girls ran as a club team for Jus Running and finished in 6th place at the Nike Cross National Southeast Regional Championship on Saturday, 11/28/09 at the WakeMed course in Cary, NC.  Our top 5 averaged 18:49 with Laura Hoer leading the way in 18:00.0;  good enough for 6th place overall and an invitation to compete at the National Championship next weekend in Portland, Oregon.  Brooke Gordon finished 15th overall with a PR of 18:23.6, earning a spot on the All-Southeast Region Team.  Sarah Hope (19:07.7), Zoe Dubin (19:16.1), Marie Mauhar (19:21.0), Alexa Harvey (19:28.1), and Alyson Arrington (19:42.6) all ran well enough to mix it up with nationally ranked teams and become the first group from TC Roberson to have all 7 runners finish in less than 20 minutes.        Results

(06-05-09) Parking:

Henderson County Parks and Recreation officials are requesting we use the “main” parking area instead of the lot in front of the Parks and Rec. building. This gives us more space for the buses and close proximity to a picnic shelter reserved for our use. It also puts us close to restroom facilities that will be open for our use.

(06-05-09) Directions:

From Interstate 26 – Take exit 49 (highway 64). Go towards downtown Hendersonville. At the 7th light (just over 1.5 miles from I-26), take a left (there’s a small Jackson Park sign). Go 2 blocks and take another left (again, there will be a small sign). This takes you into the Park. See parking above. For all teams arriving later (planning to arrive at Jackson Park after approximately 8:15 AM) and all teams arriving from the South, please use the south entrance to Jackson Park so you won’t get caught in traffic when the road is closed once racing begins. Directions are as follows:

From Interstate 26 – take exit 53 (Upward Road). Go towards Hendersonville/Flat Rock 1.4 miles. Take right at 176 (major intersection at Super Ingles). Go 1.4 miles. Take right on Glover Street (there are a couple of small, brown Jackson Park signs before this turn). Go 0.7 miles into South entrance of Jackson Park (note – Glover Street is a small, residential road).

(06-05-09) Entry Fees:

$60 per school (1 time $60 entry covers all boys and girls, regardless of number of races entered, or number of athletes).

$20 entry fee for individuals (up to a maximum of $60 total per school – 1 individual runner: $20, 2 individual runners: $40, 3 or more from same school: $60)

Make checks payable to Roberson Rams Club. Mail to address listed in “general information” above or you may bring your check to the Meet. Your entry fee must be received in order to get your race packet.

The City of Asheville has gone to Level 2 for Fuel Conservation.  For this reason many Parks and Recreation programs and services have been cancelled or are on a reduced schedule to help patrons and staff conserve fuel.  The Asheville Fall Classic scheduled for Thursday, September 25 has been cancelled.  We apologize for the inconvenience.  Please let me know that you received this email.

Also please help spread the word; I am missing several coaches from this list and do not want a team to travel to Asheville.

We also believe Walton won the Varsity boy’s Meet. In both cases, the Walton team is not scored. We believe in a timing & scoring software glitch. Results appear otherwise correct.

(05-13-06) 2006 NCHSAA 3A West Region Final Results

Final results are posted. We struggled with our timing and scoring folks today. They missed the 4x8’s, 100/110 hurdles, and girl’s 100 – and then let us know there was a problem!!!! Fortunately, the camera was always working, so the places are definitely correct. We were miraculously able to recover the 4x8 times. The 100/110 and 100 results are listed as finals only because we don’t have prelim times. Sorting through the problem cost the scoring and timing people valuable time they would normally use to input Field Event results – so those ultimately ran behind as well. We apologize for the inconvenience. We were not able to present awards in all events – so I’ll take the remaining awards with me to the State Meet and get them to the correct people.

In addition to the timing issues – there were some VERY close results in Field Events and some incredible ties – and even jump offs. So you’ll see lots of “J”’s next to those results – indicating Judges Decision (sorting through tie breakers). We stayed for about an hour after the Meet and went through each event and verified all photos. We think everything is now correct. Thanks.
